The Premier League, The FA and the Government’s Football Foundation have announced the launch of their ‘Power Up Your Grass Pitch’ campaign, to transform the state of grass football pitches in England.
The aim is to improve over 7,000 grass pitches by 2024 and 20,000 by 2030, to ensure the 12 million grassroots football players across the country have great places to play. To support the campaign, the Foundation has developed an app which is now being rolled out across the country.
‘PitchPower’ is an online tool that gives community football clubs and organisations the ability to carry out their own grass pitch inspections. Once inspections have been completed, clubs and facilities are then eligible to apply for funding to support pitch improvements identified through the app.
The aim of our Church project is to install much needed new kitchen facilities as well as a new community meeting place within the Church. The project seeks to modify the church building so that it can be used, not only as a place of worship, but also for a variety of local community activities, which will benefit the wider rural community as well as the church here in Longstanton. With a significantly growing local population we urgently need to complete this project.
Phase 1 was complete in April 2019 which included new toilets.
4Grants secured funding for Phase 2, this involves completion of the kitchen area as well as the provision of a new community meeting area and upper floor within the church.
The project will provide a meeting area and public facilities that will open the Church building to much greater use by the wider community. These new essential facilities are designed to meet the communal needs of a rapidly expanding local community.
The Club Cricket Charity has teamed up with The Community Heartbeat Trust and the ECB to distribute defibrillators to cricket clubs around the country.
The current offer, open to any cricket club includes a portable defibrillator, insurance, training, connection to the local emergency service and post traumatic stress counselling. There is an ongoing maintenance package that runs alongside this.
The cost to a club is £750 for a package which could normally cost over £2,000 for the defibrillator alone, making it the most outstanding value-for-money proposition available in sport.
